citiesRISE
citiesRISE is a global initiative dedicated to revolutionizing mental health policy and practices in cities worldwide to meet the mental health needs of diverse populations. Our mission is to drive substantial and measurable enhancements in mental health outcomes, particularly among youth, by expanding proven methodologies and tools and mobilizing the expertise and efforts of professionals and communities. Our ultimate vision is a world where cities prioritize mental health across all sectors, empowering young people to thrive, develop resilience, and lead fulfilling lives.
citiesRISE presents a comprehensive model for enhancing youth mental health in urban areas globally. This model emphasizes:
Mobilizing youth involvement
Scaling up evidence-based interventions that address various dimensions of mental health (including promotion, prevention, early intervention, and access to quality care)
Leveraging technology innovatively to support mental well-being
Transforming specialist practices to prioritize community engagement and youth-centered approaches.
citiesRISE was conceptualized by Emergence Creative and GDI (The Global Development Incubator).
Idea
Project Goals
Discussions surrounding mental health frequently gravitate towards negativity, accentuating the emotional, economic, and social toll of illness on individuals and communities. However, by illuminating the possibilities inherent in mental health rather than fixating on the weight of mental illness, we can reshape the narrative.
Design and craft a brochure that emphasizes branding and messaging, centering on themes of global connectivity, resilience, and optimism. By spotlighting the promise of mental well-being rather than fixating on the challenges of mental illness, we've successfully reframed the narrative.
Process
-
Research and Analysis: Begin by immersing yourself in the subject matter. Conduct thorough research on mental health, exploring both positive and negative perspectives. Analyze existing brochures, campaigns, and messaging strategies related to mental health to identify common themes and gaps.
Audience Understanding: Dive deep into understanding your target audience. Consider demographics, psychographics, and their existing perceptions of mental health. Explore their needs, desires, and pain points related to mental well-being.
Inspiration Gathering: Seek inspiration from diverse sources such as art, literature, and cultural movements that celebrate resilience, positivity, and global connectivity. Engage in discussions with stakeholders to gather insights and perspectives.
-
Brainstorming Sessions: Organize brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for the brochure. Encourage creative thinking and explore unconventional approaches to messaging and design.
Concept Development: Select promising concepts based on their alignment with the desired branding and messaging goals. Develop these concepts further, fleshing out key themes, visual motifs, and storytelling elements.
Prototyping: Create rough prototypes and sketches to visualize how the brochure might look and feel. Experiment with different layouts, typography, color schemes, and imagery to evoke the desired emotional response.
-
Design Execution: Translate the chosen concept into a polished design. Pay attention to visual hierarchy, readability, and brand consistency. Incorporate elements that evoke a sense of global connectivity and resilience, such as imagery of diverse communities coming together.
Feedback and Iteration: Solicit feedback from stakeholders, target audience members, and design peers. Iterate on the design based on their input, refining aspects that may need improvement while staying true to the overarching vision.
Production and Distribution: Prepare the brochure for production, whether it's printing physical copies or creating digital versions for online distribution. .
